UMEC VALUE DELIVERED
A high-end addition to client's real estate portfolio; all-season comfort and energy efficiency management for residents and visitors; individual heating and cooling controls; dependable central hot water supply; smooth coordination with project schedules and other contractors; single-source accountability.
CONSTRUCTION OBJECTIVES
To construct a new, full-ownership, condominium tower in downtown San Diego.
MECHANICAL SOLUTIONS
This client chose UMEC to provide the complete mechanical system and HVAC services for this 21-story luxury tower in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter. In collaboration with the general contractor and other suppliers, company project planners scheduled the arrivals of equipment, materials, and technicians on site to coordinate with the timeline and other work being conducted on the space-constrained, high-traffic site.
The UMEC team also installed the central plant that supplies the building's domestic hot water. In addition, the company equipped each of the building's 179 units with a heat pump to provide residents with individualized heating and cooling control along with high levels of energy efficiency management.
BUILDING BACKGROUND
The Alta Condominiums tower is located in San Diego's historic district in close proximity to Horton Plaza and Petco Park. The building features studio, one- and two bedroom residential units as well as a clubhouse, fitness center, lap pool/spa, retail shops, three-level underground parking structure, and other amenities.
