MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION OBJECTIVES

To obtain the mechanical and plumbing systems needed for its new 56,300-sf data center.

 

MECHANICAL SERVICES & HVAC SOLUTIONS

Verizon Wireless selected UMEC to install the primary and back-up HVAC and plumbing systems needed to safeguard the mission-critical information technologies housed in the company’s new data center. For the central plant, the company installed three 145-ton chillers (one for redundant use) as well as all associated pumps and accessories. UMEC also installed 11 computer room air conditioners (CRAC), including four back-up units; five air handlers, including two back-ups, delivering over 200,000-cfm; nine fan coil units; and one make-up air unit.

 

Commercial plumbing services included connecting the CRAC units to the industrial water supply and installing floor drains for condensate and subfloor trap primers. UMEC also put in all bathroom plumbing for the first and second floors, as well as a 119-gallon electric water heater.
